Career

Ronald worked as a history teacher at the King’s School at Canterbury. He demanded excellence from his students and was rewarded during his career with the knowledge that nearly two hundred scholarships or exhibitions were awarded to students under his tutelage. Prior to joining the staff at King’s School, where he was head of the history department, Harris taught briefly in Jamaica. Simultaneously with his teaching obligations, he wrote several textbooks.

He died June 17, 1999.

Achievements

• Ronald Walter Harris was mainly known as the writer, his area of expertise was political history. His most famous works are Latin for Historians, England in the Eighteenth Century, An Historical Introduction to the Twentieth Century, and The Philosophy of Politics.
