Mr. Wendling was born on March 31, 1939, in Buffalo, New York, United States. He is a son of Charles, in salesman, and Bernice, a bookkeeper whose maiden name was LaMaitre, Wendling.
Ronald C. Wendling received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University in 1962. In 1965 he earned Master of Arts from the same university. He also graduated from Case Western Reserve University with Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1970.
Mr. Wendling acted as an instructor in English at Canisius College, Buffalo, NY, between 1963 and 1965. From 1965 to 1966 he was an instructor in English at St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, PA. Then he joined the staff of Hamilton College, Clinton, NY, serving as an instructor, 1969-1970, and later an assistant professor of English, 1970-1972. He also held a number of different positions at St. Joseph’s University: assistant professor, 1972-1981, associate professor, 1981-1995, professor of English, since 1995, director of Honors Program, 1986-1990. Mr. Wendling was a presenter at numerous conferences.
Mr. Wendling is a writer and contributor of articles and reviews to periodicals, including Studies in Romanticism, Papers on Language and Literature, Studies in the Literary Imagination, Chronicle of Higher Education, On Teaching Coleridge, and America.
