Achievements

  • Achievements include proof that number of glucose transport proteins in the small intestine is changed by amount of dietary carbohydrate consumed. Demonstration that luminal glucose concentrations in the small intestine are low and at levels close to the effective affinity constant of brushborder glucose transporters. Crustaceans (prawns) are inefficient regulators of their hemolymph osmolality when they molt, but that efficiency improves after molt. M C.
