Background

Edge, Rosalle was born on November 3, 1881 in New York, New York, United States. Daughter of John Wylie and Harriett Bowen (Woodward) Barrow.

Education

Educated in private schools. Doctor of Letters (honorary), Wagner College, 1948.

Career

Organized Emergency Conservation Committee 1929, one of leading conservation orgns. in the United States. Active campaigns for virgin forests, birds of prey, antelopes, mountain sheep, etc. Established world’s first hawk sanctuary known as Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Association.

Initiated campaign to save sugar pines in Yosemite Park. Leader of campaign inestablishment Olympic National Park of Washington State, and Kings Canyon National Park, also other conservation projects in the United States Alaska. Author and editor numerous pamphlets publications by the Emergency Conservation Committee Home: New York City, New York †.
