Roseana Ferreira Araújo da Costa Sarney Murad is a Brazilian politician and sociologist.

Background

SARNEY, Roseana Madera was born on June 1, 1953 in Sao Luis, Maranho. Daughter of José Samey and Marly Maciera Sarney.

UNB, Brasilia, political science and sociology, 1972-1978.

Career

She was the governor of the Brazilian state of Maranhão from 2009 to 2014. Roseana has served in a number of elected offices, including congresswoman from 1991 to 1994, governor of Maranhão from 1995 to 2002 and senator from 2003 to 2009. She considered running for president in 2002, but a corruption scandal led to her withdrawal from the race on April 15, 2002.

Membership

She is a member of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party and daughter of senator and former president José Sarney.
