Admitted to bar, 1852, began practice in New Orleans, 1853, with brother, Stephen H. Waples. With James B. Eustis (late United States senator) established firm of Waples & Eustis, 1855. Appointed United State Attorneys for Eastern district of Louisiana, 1863, by President Lincoln.
Served through Lincoln’s and part of Johnson’s administrations.
Admitted to bar Supreme Court of the United States Court, 1866. City attorney New Orleans for special cases, 1870-1872.
Foreign several years director public schools and trustee Straight University, New Orleans. Moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1878.
