Feldman was born on June 13, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, United States; the daughter of Boris Duskin and Rita (Schayer) Duskin.
Feldman received a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the Northwestern University in 1954. She graduated from the International Institute for Secular Humanistic Judaism.
Ruth began his career as a panelist at the show "The Quiz Kids" in 1941. She stayed for nine years, appearing in 146 episodes on radio and 11 on television in 1949. Also Ruth held the same position at radio and television shows, including "College Quiz Bowl", "Superghost" and "It's About Time".
She wrote her first book "Chemi, the Magician" in 1947. Her second book "Whatever Happened to the Quiz Kids? Perils and Profits of Growing Up Gifted", 1982 was reissued by iUniverse in 2000. In addition, she coauthored four leading college psychology textbooks published by McGraw-Hill: "Human Development", "A Child's World", "Child Development: A Topical Approach" and "Adult Development and Aging".
Ruth has contributed to national and local magazines and newspapers, including Woman's Day, Better Homes & Gardens, New Choices, Vista USA, Travel & Leisure, American Way and others.
Also Feldman lectured at universities, parents' groups and school districts throughout the country, specializing in education and developmental psychology. During the 1970s she was an award-winning writer for Lerner Newspapers in Chicago and edited the journal of the Society for Humanistic Judaism.
She was keynote speaker at a Writers and Editors/One on One conference sponsored by the University of Chicago.

2000Feldman was a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, Authors Guild, Society of Professional Journalists, National Writers Union, Society of Midland Authors, Indiana Writers of Chicago, Society for Humanistic Judaism and Phi Beta Kappa.
On June 14, 1953 Ruth Feldman married Gilbert Feldman. They have a son, two daughters and eight grandchildren.
