Ruth Goode was born on May 1, 1905, in Brooklyn, New York, United States.
Goode graduated from the Smith College in 1925.
Goode established herself in the field of journalism, first at the New York Evening World and later with Nation, both in the 1920s. After six years with the New York Evening Post as a reporter and women’s page editor, she became a freelance writer beginning in 1933. During her career, she interviewed notable women such as Amelia Earhart and Eleanor Roosevelt. In 1957 she joined the staff of the MD Medical Newsmagazine as a senior staff writer and contributed to the publication for twenty years.
In addition to her journalism, Goode wrote fiction, sometimes under the name Ruth Seinfel. These works include Lady Buyer and Don Gaucho (with Alyce Pollock).
She also teamed with her husband, Gerald Goode, to write books on sexuality. They used the pseudonyms Julia Rainer and Jerome Rainer on titles such as Sexual Pleasure in Marriage and Sexual Adventure in Marriage. She also penned The Magic of Walking with Aaron Sussman, My Love Affair with the State of Maine with Gertrude Mackenzie, and Impresario with Sol Hurok. She also wrote People of the Ice Age for juvenile readers.
In addition, she worked as a ghostwriter on books in the medical and child care field.
