Randolph began her career at the Wellesley College, serving there as an acquisitions assistant at the library from 1986 till 1988. She then joined Houghton Mifflin Company - educational and trade publishing organization - holding several positions there - trainee in permissions, art direction and production, from 1989 to 1990. She worked as an associate art editor there for the next two years. In 1994, Randolph was a research coordinator at the Wellesley College. Two years later, she was appointed at the Christopher Newport University as an instructor in education. Since 1997, Randolph has served as a Native speaker and instructor at the Pelita Harapan School (Sekolah Pelota Harapan), in Indonesia.
In 1990, Randolph became a co-writer of the book Harlem Renaissance and Beyond: Literary Biographies of One Hundred Black Women Writers, 1900-1945, written with Lorraine Elena Roses. Later, two women edited their book and published Harlem’s Glory: Black Women Writing, 1900-1950 in 1996. Additionally, Randolph is a contributor to periodicals, including Sage: A Scholarly Journal on Black Women and Black American Literature Forum. Introducing new material in addition to enhancing other studies of black women, this volume of biographical profiles opens new territory in 20th-century literary criticism.
