Career
Ryutaro Takahashi entered the business field. He was associated with DaiNippon (Great Japan) Beer Company for 25 years, eventually becoming its president.
He was also concerned with some 20 business ventures. After the Japanese surrender served as president of Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Was Minister of Commerce and Industry (1951).

He was elected to the House of Councilors.
