Achievements

  • Achievements include numerous patents in field. Invention of first finite state models to predict the performance of memory paging algorithms, concurrently with W.F. King of International Business Machines Corporation. Invention of the random neural network and the G-network quencing model and obtained their analytical solutions.

Invention of the cognitive packet network routing algorithms for computer networks. Proved that the FIFO paging algorithm is strictly equivalent to a random page replacement policy for the independent memory references establishing a hierarchy of memory management policies. Going from random to optimal and deriving their page fault ratios in explicit form.

Derived first diffusion approximation for queuing systems using holding times at the boundries. Thus providing for better accuracy than conventional "reflecting boundary" diffusions at light traffic, and good accuracy at heavy traffic. Later applying it to the analysis of Asynchronous Transfer Mode cell traffic, leading to a patented call admission control protocol for air traffic management networks.

Published the first performance analyses of window protocols in computer networks. Introduced new queueing network models with product form solutions called Gelenbe Networks. Developed the theory and application of Random Neural Networks.

Designed and invented a Cognitive Packet Routing Algorithm for computer networks.
