Tyler, Samuel was born on October 22, 1809 in Prince George’s County, Maryland, United States. Son of Grafton and Anne (Plummer) Tyler.

Education

Attended Middlebury (Vermont) College, 1826-1828.

Career

Admitted to Maryland. bar, 1831. Appointed by Maryland. Legislature a commissioner to simplify practice and pleading in Maryland. cts.

Wrote A Treatise on the Maryland Simplified Preliminary Procedure and Pleading, 1857. Published articles on logic and metaphysics in Princeton Review, collected under titles A Discourse of the Baconian Philosophy, 1844, The Progress of Philosophy in the Past and in the Future, 1858. Professor of law Columbian (now George Washington University, 1867-1877.

Published American edit. Treatise on the Principles of Pleading (H.J. Stephen), 1871, Memoir of Roger Brooke Taney, Doctor of Laws, 1872, Commentary on the Law of Partnership, 1877.
