Saori Nakamura is a Japanese lawyer based in Tokyo who was admitted to the Japanese bar in 1988 and practiced as a partner of Tomotsune Kimura & Mitomi, a predecessor of the law firm Anderson Mori & Tomotsune.
Education
Nakamura received a Bachelor of Laws from Kyoto University in 1986, after a four-year undergraduate course. Founded in 1897 as Kyoto Imperial University, the institution is one of Japan's leading national universities and one of the imperial universities established during the country's early modern period.
After completing the law degree, Nakamura attended the Legal Training and Research Institute of the Supreme Court of Japan. This institute provided practical training to candidates who had passed the national bar examination before they were admitted to practice as lawyers, judges, or prosecutors.
Career
Nakamura was admitted to the Japanese bar in 1988 and subsequently worked as a partner of Tomotsune Kimura & Mitomi, a law firm based in Tokyo. The firm was renamed Tomotsune & Kimura in 2001, and its later history is closely tied to the firm now known as Anderson Mori & Tomotsune.
Tomotsune & Kimura traced its origins to 1967 and was an offshoot of a law firm founded by Toshiro Nishimura, which later became Nishimura & Asahi. The firm was known for its expertise in international financial transactions. Anderson Mori, founded in 1952 as O'Gorman, Nattier & Anderson by three American attorneys, merged with Tomotsune & Kimura in 2005 to form Anderson Mori & Tomotsune.
After the 2005 merger, the combined firm expanded through the 2007 integration with Bingham Sakai Mimura Aizawa and the opening of offices across Asia and Europe. This growth reflected the broader development of Japanese law firms into full-service international practices.
