Satomi Takahashi was born in 1886 Yamagata Prefecture, Japan.
He graduated from Philosophy Department of Tokyo University (1910). Studied in Europe for three years (1925-1928).
Satomi Takahashi served as professor of 6th Higher School (1915) and Niigata Higher School and then as assistant professor of Science Department of Tohoku University. He became professor and dean of Law & Literature Department of Tohoku University (1928). Received a doctorate in literature and was appointed president of Yamagata Higher School (1948). Became president of Tohoku University (since 1949).
His books include Gendai-no Teisugaku (Modern Philosophy), Rekishito Benslio-ho (History and Dialectic) and Tetsugaku-no Honshitsu (The Essence of Philosophy).
Member of Nihon Gakushi-in (Academy of Japan) (since 1950).
