He is currently employed as an American Hockey League assistant coach with the Houston aeronautics Born in 1971 in Cap-Rouge, Quebec, LaPlante attended Northeastern University where he played four seasons of National Collegiate Athletic Association college hockey with the Northeastern Huskies men"s ice hockey team He began his professional career in 1993 with the Greensboro Monarchs of the ECHL. He went on to play 175 professional games, scoring 77 goals and 115 assists for 192 points.
