Seizaburo Yasukawa was born in 1877 in Japan. He was the third son of Keiichiro Yasukawa and younger brother of Kenjiro Matsumoto.

Seizaburo Yasukawa was born in 1877 in Japan. He was the third son of Keiichiro Yasukawa and younger brother of Kenjiro Matsumoto.
Seizaburo Yasukawa studied at Keio Gijuku (predecessor of Keio University). Later, studied economics at Pennsylvania University.
Seizaburo Yasukawa returned to Japan and joined Yokohama Specie Bank. After serving for three years, succeeded his father as director of Meiji Mining Company, Yasukawa Electric Manufacturing Company, Kyushu Steel Manufacturing Company etc.
Along with his elder brother strove to restore the family fortunes. Contributed greatly to the development of coal mining in Kyushu as chairman of Chikuho and Kyushu coal miners associations.
