Participated on geological prospecting expeditions in Eastern Kazakhstan and the Volga. 1941-1945 war correspondent. Staff member, newspapers “Vo slavu rodiny” (For the Glory of the Motherland) and “Stalinsky sokol” (Stalin Falcon).
1943 coauthor, text of the Soviet National Anthem. At different times member, Committee Lenin Prizes for Literature and Art, USSR Council of Ministers, and Deputy, Moscow Soviet. 1928 first verse published in journal “Na podeme”, Rostov-on-Don, and newspaper “Terek”, Pyatigorsk.
