1927-1940 co-founder and professor, Ural Research Institute of Ferrous Metals. From 1932 associate, Ural Branch, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. From 1939 director, Institute of Metallurgy, Metal Sciences and Metal Physics, Ural Branch, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences.
Specialized in heat treatment and alloying of steel. Studied kinetics and structural mech of phase conversions in the heating and cooling of steel in order to determine the physical aspects of processes which occur in the tempering, annealing and tapping of steel.
