Sergey Vasilievich Achkasov was a commander of the unit of the 176th Fighter Regiment (2nd Air Army, Voronezh Front). By March 1943, Sergey made 160 sorties, personally shot down 8 (including 2 ram, near the railway station Tresvyatskaya now in the Novousmansky district) and in group 2 of enemy aircraft. Lieutenant Achkasov was killed in a raid by enemy aircraft to the airfield near the city of Kursk.
