Sharon Wilson earned her Bachelor of Arts from Colorado State University in 1963. In 1967 she received Master of Arts degree from Purdue University. Mrs. Wilson completed her education at University of Wisconsin, obtaining Doctor of Philosophy in 1976.
Mrs. Wilson served as an instructor at University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, from 1970 to 1973, assistant professor between 1974 and 1978, associate professor during 1978-1984 and also a professor of English and women’s studies since 1985. She held the position of a director of writing minor from 1985 till 1988 at the same university.
In the years of 1978-1979 Sharon Wilson worked as a fulbright exchange teacher at Middlesex Polytechnic (now Middlesex University). In 1980 she was appointed member of advisory board of Colorado Seminars. The same year she became a visiting humanist at Boulder County Women’s Resources Center. Concurrently Mrs. Wilson acted as a public speaker. Sharon Wilson is known to be a charter member of National Museum of Women in Art and Women’s Philharmonic.
In addition to being an author of her own books, Mrs. Wilson has been a contributor to other writers' books, including Margaret Atwood: Reflection and Reality, Cooking by the Book: Food in Literature and Culture etc. Moreover, she has also been a contributor to periodicals, including Essays in Canadian Writing, Antipodes: A North American Journal of Australian Literature, Journal of Popular Literature, Canadian Literature, American Review of Canadian Studies, and Journal of Evolutionary Psychology.
