2d, Eliza Poor Donner, of Springfield, Illinois, October 10, 1861. Enlisted, June, 1846, in 1st regiment New York vols. for Mexican war. Went with regiment to California via Cape Horn, 1846, and from there, 1847, to Mexico.

Appointed Lieutenant and adjunct 1847. Served until close of war. Returned to California, October 14, 1848.

Mined for gold, 1848-1849. Practiced law since 1857. President city council, 1854.

Mayor, 1855-1856, San Jose, California In Civil war as ordnance officer, Lieutenant-colonel on staff Major-General H. W. Halleck.
