Shigeharu Tsuboi worked for a publishing house and took to composing poetry. His poems preached anarchy, more so when he organized the Association for Literary Emancipation (1920). Later became a follower of Marxism and assumed editorship of Senki (Battle Flag) magazine. As a result of his political leanings served two prison sentences.
Later founded Sancho Club with Hideo Oguma and others and developed the composing of satirical poems. After World War II became an official of New Japanese Literature Society. Among his works are "Fruits", "Eyes of War" and "The Spirit of Resistance."
