Career
He restored the martial art of lait or drawing the sword at a very high speed, which had been losing popularity. While practising votive austerities at the Hayashizaki Myojin Shrine in Dewa Province (Yamagata Prefecture), he is said to have received an inspiration through a dream and thereby became an accomplished swordsman. Among his disciples was Hisayasu Katayama, who originated the Hoki School of swordsmanship.
