Background

Shin-E was born in 1434, Japan. He was the son of Teiken.

Education

Studied the doctrine of the Tendai Sect on Mount Hiei.

Career

Tenth chief priest of the Senshuji Temple, headquarters of the Takata Branch of Shinshu Sect, in Ise Province (Mie Prefecture). He moved the Senshuji Temple from Shimotsuke (Tochigi Prefecture) to Ishinden, Ise Province, which is now the head temple of the Takata Branch of the Shinshu Sect.

He visited many temples in various provinces for study. Then he preached in the provinces of Kaga (Ishikawa Prefecture), Echizen (Fukui Prefecture) and Omi (Shiga Prefecture).

Achievements

• Built the Komyoji Temple in Ise Province (Mie Prefecture).
