Shin-ichi Iwaya studied in the Japanese Literature Section of Tokyo University but left without graduating (1924).
Shin-ichi Iwaya entered the Shochiku (a theatrical and motion picture company) and assigned to drama writing and directing. Traveled to Europe and America (1932) to inspect dramas. Some famous dramas written or rewritten by him include Okehazama, Zangiku Mono-gatari and Hadcika Dochu.
