Kuroda received a Doctor of Science degree from Osaka University in 1978.
Kuroda began his career as a research fellow at Osaka University in 1978. A year later he took a position of a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alabama. Then in 1981, Shin-ichi was appointed a researcher at Electrotechnical Laboratory. In 1983, he became a senior researcher at that laboratory. Also Kuroda served as chief of a section at Electrotechnical Laboratory from 1993 to 1996. In 1996 he was appointed a professor of applied physics at Nagoya University.
Kuroda is a member of the Japan Society of Polymer Science, Japan Society of Applied Physics and Physical Society of Japan.
On May 24, 1983 Shin-ichi Kuroda married Nobuko Kuroda. They have a child.
