Shinken Wada was born in 1912 in Tokyo, Japan.
Attended Waseda University and joined Japan Broadcasting Corporation (N.H.K.) as announcer. Became a popular announcer after Shinken Wada recited Soseki Natsume's famous novel Sanshiro (a youth named Sanshiro) on the air. Later he specialized in Sumo (wrestling) commentaries.
After World War II he left N.H.K. and became a freelance. Shinken Wada was sent to Helsinki to cover the Olympic Games. He died of illness on his way home from Helsinki.
