Chen, Shiu-Nan was born on December 3, 1944 in Taiwan. Son of Chin-Shuan and Lan-Wei-Tsai Chen.


Bachelor of Science, National Taiwan University, Taipei, 1967. Master of Science, National Taiwan University, Taipei, 1971. Doctor of Philosophy, University Liverpool, England, 1978.


Lecturer National Taiwan University, 1973—1975, associate professor, 1979—1982, professor, department zoology, since 1982, chairman, department life science, 1984—1990. Associate professor, department microbiology Oregon State University, Corvallis, 1980—1981. Research assistant University Liverpool, 1977—1979.

  • Achievements include patents for research in methods of manufacturing mushroom beta-glucan metabolites and its anti-cancer efficacy and its application as derma regeneration and on immuno-modulation. Patents for mushroombe beta-glucan, special neutralization of mycotoxin, caffeine, heavy metal and pesticides. Patents for production method for solid cultured active mushroom Mycelium and Fruit-body metabolites (AMFM) roducts thereof.

    Patents for a novel Plasmin & preparation method thereof.
