Shizuichi Shimomise was born on February 16, 1900 Nara, Japan.
Originally he studied law at Ritsumeikan University and then switched over to the study of the history of fine arts, and became a specialist in Japanese fine arts.
Shizuichi Shimomise was an instructor at Kyoto University of Fine Arts and Osaka Municipal University. Wrote many books on this subject, including " A Study of Yamatoe Pictures" and " A History of Japanese Painting."
