Shoichi Makita entered Bank of Japan and became chief of Kokk-ka (National Treasury Section) of its Matsumoto Branch. Transferred to Java Depository of Nampo Kai- hatsu Kinko (South Seas Development Depository) and became chief of its Business Section (1942). He returned to Bank of Japan and became researcher of its Business Bureau and director of its Chiba Office (1946). Appointed managing director of Wakamoto Pharmaceutical Company (1948). The same year rejoined Bank of Japan to serve as chief of Foreign Trade Section of its Loan Facilitation Department and later assumed the above-captioned post.
