Shokichi Iyanaga graduated from Tokyo University (1929).
Shokichi Iyanaga appointed assistant professor of the Science Department of Tokyo University (1935) and professor (1942). During the above period, published a number of articles in English and German concerning theory of integi'al numbers, phase mathematics and basic theory of mathematics. Awarded a doctorate (1936). He elected to the Japan Scientific Council (1950). Director of the Japan Mathematics Academy and executive member of the International Mathematics Union (IMU) representing Japan. Author of "Theory of Free Groups" and "The Fundamental Conception of Modern Mathematics."
