Shozaburo Ueda finished the Kochi Normal School.
Shortly after graduating from the Kochi Normal School, Shozaburo Ueda worked as a primary school teacher. Later he moved to Tokyo and became a journalist, there he was acclaimed for his nonacademic articles. Shozaburo Ueda wrote a biography of Takuboku Ishikawa, and was considered to be a noted waka poet. Ueda also wrote editorials for the Nihon Kyoiku Shimbun (Japan Education Journal).
