He was elected as second Member of Parliament from Pilibhit Constituency with 50.54% votes on Praja Socialist Party"s Ticket and defeated his rival contender who was from Indian National Congress and received 34.86% votes in the general election held in 1957. He was elected again as third Member of Parliament from Pilibhit Constituency with 29.62% votes on Praja Socialist Party"s Ticket and defeated his rival contender who was from Indian National Congress and received 27.42% votes in the general election held in 1962.
