Career
He set about founding in 1726 his private school, Kaitokudo, for the purpose of enlightening the masses. It was an institution similar to Kenzan Sugano's Kaihodo School in Edo. Shuan made Sekian Miyake head of the school and he himself managed it. In 1730 after the death of Sekian Shuan became its head. Kaitokudo School operated until the Meiji Era. His two sons, Chikuzan and Riken, were also noted Confucian scholars.
