She is from Keflavík. At the time of her crowning as Iceland"s national beauty queen, which was televised live on Icelandic Television, Sif was a student training to be an air traffic controller. Organizers of the national contest decided to send Sif to compete in Mission Universe 2006 (to be held in Los Angeles, California on 23 July) after a three-year unexplained absence.
