Later this was repeated in humans in a controlled clinical trial. At Hahnemann University Hospital. Again the survival of unrelated donor kidneys was 100% at one year. Joseph E. Murray, MD, senior member of the Surgery team at Harvard Medical School was the recipient of the Nobel Medicine Prize in 1990, being the first American born surgeon to receive a Nobel Medicine Prize. Prevention and treatment of massive gastroduodenal hemorrhage from hemorrhagic gastritis using pioneering antacids to neutralize gastric acid to pH7. 90% of patients survived as a result. First co-discovered essential amino acids phenylalanine and tryptophan that are essential for antibody formation. Participated in the creation of the first freeze-dried, heat-stable sheep pox vaccine against small pox, university of London, Lister Institute of Preventive Health, Vaccine Laboratory, 1951-1952 with Leslie Collier. The vaccine was active for 60 weeks on the shelf. The World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland used this vaccine for a global small pox eradication program.
