Background
Takaya Soho was born in Sendai (Miyagi Prefecture), 1623. He was the son of Soetsu. His family served the Sendai Clan as physicians for generations. His grandfather studied medicine in China and served Lord Masamune Date, who gave him a fief of 1,500 koku.
