Education
After graduating from Tokyo Academy of Art with a degree in Japanese-style painting (1897) stayed behind for a postgraduate course in Western-style painting.
Career
Rejoined his alma mater as professor ( 1913). Came into prominence when his works were accepted for exhibition at the Imperial Art Institute's art shows (1916). Spent two years in Europe and America studying art (1923-1925).
