Mrs. Shaw was born in January 8, 1969 in the United States.
Sophia Shaw graduated from Wellesley College, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) in 1991. In 1994 she finished her studies at University of Chicago with Master of Arts. She did further graduate study at J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management since 1995.
From 1991 to 1993 Mrs. Shaw served as a director of exhibitions and inventory control at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, Chicago, IL. Between 1993 and 1995 she resumed her office as a curatorial assistant and coordinator of Claude Monet project at Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago. In 1995 she was appointed curatorial assistant and coordinator of the project Negotiating Rapture at Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. She is also known as an author of exhibition catalogs.
