Background

Sowa Kanamori was born in 1584. He was the son of Arishige Kanamori, the Castellan of Takayama (Gifu Prefecture).

Career

Sowa Kanamori was punished together with his father and both were confined at Kyoto. He later became a priest, and from his father learned the art of tea ceremony and went on to found the Sowa school of the delicate art.

Achievements
