Rascoff joined Zillow in 2005 as one of its first hires, and served various roles including chief operating officer, until his appointment to Chief Executive Officer in 2010. Since becoming Chief Executive Officer, Rascoff has led Zillow through its 2011 IPO and 11 acquisitions. In 2015, he co-wrote and published his first book, the New York Times’ Best Seller “Zillow Talk: Rewriting the Rules of Real Estate.”
Before joining Zillow, Rascoff was vice president of lodging for Expedia.
In 1999, at the age of 24, Rascoff co-founded Hotwire.com, a leading Internet travel company, which a few years later he sold to InterActiveCorp (the parent company of Expedia).
He was named one of America’s 20 Most Powerful Chief executive officers 40 and Under by Forbes magazine in 2012 and 2013 and was the recipient of Ernst & Young’s National Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 Services Award. Rascoff grew up in New York and then Los Angeles, where he attended Harvard-Westlake.
He received his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University before working as a private equity investor at TPG Capital and as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns, and Allen & Company. Rascoff is on the boards of directors of TripAdvisor and privately held online beauty company Julep.
He is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, and is on the advisory board of Seattle Children’s Hospital Research Institute.
