Stefan Pasternack studied at Cornell University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1961. He also attended Georgetown University School of Medicine and received a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1965.
Stefan Pasternack completed an Internship at the University of California Affiliated Hospitals. He also completed training in psychoanalysis at the Baltimore Washington Institute for Psychoanalysis and became an Associate Teaching Analyst there.
Stefan Pasternack started his career as a Navy Psychiatrist at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in 1969. He held this post until 1971 and then became a Clinical Professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine where he worked until 2005. He served as Co-Director of the Advanced Studies Program in Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Pasternack also served as a Consultant Psychiatrist to Medical Department at the World Bank from 1980 to 1987. He worked as a voluntary professor of psychiatry at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. In 2013 he started a private practice of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis.
Stefan Pasternack published his first book Violence and victims in 1974. He also wrote several scientific articles in peer reviewed journals such as the Southern Medical Journal, Georgetown Medical Bulletin, Journal of Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis and The Other Press.
Stefan Pasternack is an American psychiatrist and writer who is famous for his book Violence and victims. He received the Presidents Award for organizing educational programs as the Chair of the CME Committee and Psychotherapy Committee of the Florida Psychiatric Society.
Pasternack also received the Distinguished Life Fellow Award in 2001 and Award for Outstanding Educational Service in 2004. In 2014, he received the Practitioner of the Year Award.
