Stepan Vasilievich Anikin was born on January 8, 1869 in Saratov, Russian Federation.
In 1886 graduated from Saratov industrial school.
Stepan Vasilievich worked as a clerk and a scribe. When he passed all of his exams he became a teacher. In 1903 he became a head of Novye Burasy Academy.
Stepan Vasilievich was twice apprehended in Saratov for expansion of criminal publications and for calling of a general strike. Starting from 1905 he became a member of Saratov Socialist Revolutionary Party.
Stepan Vasilievich published his first novel "Bezdorozhye" in 1903. In 1906 he initiated the publication of the "Golos Derevny" (The voice of the village) and "Narodny listok" (National sheet) newspaper. Both newspapers were soon prohibited.
On the 14th of April, 1906 Stepan Vasilievich was elected in State Duma of the 1st convening. In 1909 emigrated to Switzerland but continued to write in Russian newspapers. In 1914 Stepan Vasilievich came back to Russia and was immediately apprehended. Was acquitted and moved to Barnaul to his family.
Stepan Vasilievich died of a stroke in 1919.
