Stephen Frey was born in the United States.
Stephen began his career in finance, working at JP Morgan's New York City office in the mergers and acquisitions department before moving to Washington in 1999 to work at Winston Partners in the group's private equity business. At Winston, he led the investment into and chaired three of the firm's portfolio companies.
But after reading the suspense novels of John Grisham, Tom Clancy, and Scott Turow, Wall Street banker Stephen W. Frey decided he could do the same. The result of Frey’s first foray into the world of publishing was released in 1995 as The Takeover.
Stephen's first 14 novels involved the financial world. His political thriller Arctic fire was published by Thomas & Mercer in October 2012.
