Stephen Gulbis graduated from Bath Academy of Art (also known as Bath School of Art and Design) with a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Illustration and Graphic Design in 1981.
Stephen Gulbis has been a self-employed freelance illustrator since 1981, illustrating children's books, advertisements, book jackets and has been a regular contributor to several football magazines such as Soccerstars, MOTD, Match of the Day, and Shoot! His first illustrated book was Alan Hamilton's Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother published in 1983. Some of his other works include Cowgirl Rosie and Her Five Baby Bison (2000), I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly (2001), Tiger Tom (2004), The Chilly Little Penguin (2008), Pop-up Meerkats: Numbers, and Opposites (2012).
Inspired by a lifelong love of football, Gulbis creates football art prints, posters, sports artwork for Premier League football clubs, Sportswear and Film companies, and Digital and Print media. His clients include Manchester United Football Club, Liverpool Football Club, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, Football Association, USA Soccer Federation, Lawn Tennis Association, English Football League, Scottish Professional Football League, New Balance, Diadora, Pro:Direct, Universal Pictures, Haymarket Media Group, ProgrammeMaster, Trinity Mirror (now Reach PLC), Final Third Sports Media Ltd, Vision Sports Publishing.
