Steven Anatol Vasilev, Doctor of Medicine, FACOG, FACS, is a gynecologist and obstetrician.
Education
Vasilev is of Russian descent, received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Keck School at the University of Southern California and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Southern California-Los Angeles County Women"s Hospital and University of Southern California Kenneth Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of California, Los Angeles Anderson School of Management and became Clinical Professor at the David Geffen University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine in 2002.
Career
From 1997 to 1998, he was Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Residence at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine. Vasilev is Chief of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Service and Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Director at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. From 1991 to 1997, he served as Director of Gynecologic Oncology at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, California.
Vasilev is a proponent of minimally invasive (laparoscopic) cancer surgery and has and published research on surgical procedures and treatments.
His research and publications have focused on screening for cervical cancer and human papilloma virus (Human papillomavirus).
