Katzman earned a degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay in 1973.
A freelance photographer since 1973, Katzman founded Image of Sarasota, Inc. in 1977. As a gallery director Katzman promotes and encourages photography as a fine art form in the Southeast and advises local museums. His gallery serves as a resource center for photographic education and workshops.
His images are not overtly political: the viewer must take time to think about each photograph to arrive at its ultimate message.
Katzman’s first book, The Face of Forgiveness Salvation and Redemption was published by powerHouse Books, spring, 2005 and received an award of merit from New York City Art Directors Club.
He has belonged to SPE since 1979.
