Steven J. Meyers

Background

Steven was born on October 5, 1948, in Newark, New Jersey, United States.

Education

In 1970 Steven earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, United States. In 1976, he received a Master of Science degree in Photography from the Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois, United States, where he studied with Arthur Siegel, Edward Ranney and Arthur Lazar.

Career

From 1975 to 1977 Steven was a director of photography for Sundance Publications, Ltd, of Denver and Silverton in Colorado, United States. Since 1977 he is a freelance photographer and designer.

The photographer produces "primarily largeformat ambiguous images of western landscape." Most of his recent work is paired images of desert formations, "largely selected for their metaphorical possibilities."
