Stu studied at the Universiteit van Amsterdam at the Faculties of Psychology, Statistics, Pedagogy.

He was a student of the Rijksscholen Gemeenschap Purmerend.

From 1977 to 1979 he studied at Universiteit van Amsterdam at the Department of the Educational Sciences.
