Chokmorov, Suimenkul was born on November 9, 1939 in the village of Chon-Tash, in the mountains of Kirghizia into a peasant family.
Chokmorov, Suimenkul was born on November 9, 1939 in the village of Chon-Tash, in the mountains of Kirghizia into a peasant family.
Studied at the famous Leningrad Academy of Fine Arts in 1960s. In 1964 he graduated from the Leningrad Academy of Arts and later taught painting and composition at the Arts School of Frunze.
Leading Kirghiz film actor. One of eleven children. Entered Frunze Art School in 1953.
Returned to Frunze. Taught painting and composition in the art school where he had himself been a student. Met Bolot Shamshiev, the leading Kirzhiz film director. Acted for the first time in his film, A Shot on the Karash Pass, in 1969.
Became famous in The Red Poppies of IssykKul' directed in 1971 by Bolot Shamshiev. Other films of note: The Ferocious One by Tolomush Okeev, 1973, and especially Akira Kurosawa’s Dersu Uzala in 1975.
